HOW NETWORK WORK

๐Ÿ”— 1. Basic Components

  • Devices (Nodes): Computers, phones, etc.

  • Router/Switch: Directs traffic in the network.

  • Modem: Connects your network to the internet.

  • Cables or Wi-Fi: Carry the data.

๐ŸŒ 2. Types of Networks

  • LAN (Local Area Network): Small area like a home or office.

  • WAN (Wide Area Network): Large area like cities or countries (e.g., the internet).

  • Wi-Fi Network: Wireless version of a LAN.

๐Ÿ“ก 3. How Data Travels

  • Data is broken into small packets.

  • Each packet is sent through the network using IP addresses (like digital addresses).

  • Routers and switches direct these packets to the correct device.

  • The receiving device reassembles the packets to understand the message.

๐Ÿ“ฅ 4. Example: Sending a Message

When you send a message from your phone to a friend’s computer:

  1. Your device sends the data packet to your router.

  2. The router sends it to the internet.

  3. It travels through multiple routers until it reaches your friend’s network.

  4. Their device receives and opens the message.

๐Ÿ” 5. Security

  • Firewalls block unwanted traffic.

  • Encryption protects data from being read by strangers.

  • Passwords and antivirus software add more safety.
